Pile It On! Challenge - Scraps & Offcuts

We have another fun new Pile It On! Challenge starting today...and the theme is:

'Use Scraps & Offcuts'

Our sponsor this month is Fresh Brewed Designs:
Prize - 3 Digi Stamps of the winner's choice!

I used scraps of Halloween papers to create a patchwork effect on a treat bag...the papers are the remnants of some My Mind's Eye 'Boo to You!' and 'Spider's Web' collections that I've had for years. I distressed the edges using some 'Black Soot' Distress Ink, and my distressing tool, then added some stitching using my CutterBee Bug and black & white gel pens. The little tag is from an accessories sheet that came with some of the papers...I added  couple of stamped sentiments from the Penny Black 'Spooky' set and ties it to the bag using some black & white Baker's twine. Once I'd filled the bag with treats, I tied the handles together using some offcuts of ribbon.

Here are the challenges I've piled on:

Butterfly Stamped Giftwrap

It was my Aunt's birthday a couple of days ago...so I made some simple stamped gift wrap for her presents. I used stamps from the 'Social Butterfly' set by Penny Black...and 'Wilted Violet' Distress Ink on kraft paper, gift bag and tag...it matches the card I made for her...but I haven't blogged that yet! The sentiment stamp is from a little set by Wild Rose Studio, and the twine is by DoCrafts.

ABC Christmas Challenge - V is for...

We have a fun new ABC Christmas Challenge starting today...Lols is the host, and the theme is:

'V is for Vertical'

Our sponsor for this challenge is Drawn with Character:
Prize - 3 Images of the winner's choice!

I went for a vertical DL card...and some snowy stamps from the 'A Bright Tomorrow' set by Penny Black. Using Versamark Ink, I stamped the snowflakes on my card blank, then heat embossed them using clear powder. I stamped the same snowflakes on to a snippet of matching kraft card, this time embossing them using 'Sparkling Snow' powder from WOW, adding a sentiment from a set by Pollycraft for C. C. Designs. TO add some definition between the layers, I matted this panel on to a snippet of white card before adding it to my card.

Inky Christmas

I have a set of Christmas cards to share today...inspired by these cards by Sandy Allnock. I started by smooshing three different combinations of Distress Inks on to watercolour paper...adding a few layers of ink, allowing each one to dry before adding the next. I cut panels of plain white card just a little smaller than my A6 card blanks, then used various Christmas dies to cut an aperture. I mounted the white panels over the inked paper on 3D foam pads, then attached them to my card blanks. The sentiment stamps are from the 'Scribbly Christmas' set by Tim Holtz for Stampers Anonymous.

I made a couple of each design:

Spooky Treat Boxes

I have some more Halloween treat boxes to share today...to match this one that I made  couple of weeks ago.

Once again, I used my We R Memory Keepers punch board and some Core'dinations 'Black Magic' card. I used a 12x12 piece of card, and made the largest size of box (a 4x4 cube). I sanded the edges of the card to reveal the coloured core (they're all different)...then added some pieces of the same card embossed with a selection of 'spooky' embossing folders...I scuffed up the edges a little and then sanded over the raised surface to reveal the coloured core. I added a little tag made out of more of the same card...decorated each one with a different Penny Black image (from the 'Be Very Scared' & 'Spooky' sets) and tied them to the boxes using a variety of co-ordinating twine.

Here are some photos of each of the boxes...fist the 'white' one:

Polar Friends

I have a simple little Christmas card to share today...featuring a Lili of the Valley stamp called 'Polar Friends'. It's a one layer number, so I stamped the image directly on to my card blank, then coloured it using watercolour pencils. I added some shimmer to the 'snow' using a Wink of Stella pen, then a sentiment (from a Christmas with Barkley set by Crafter's Companion.

I have a Halloween card to share today...using a couple of Penny Black spider stamps (from the 'Spooky' and 'Be Very Scared' sets). I added a little extra colour to the images using watercolour pencils, then inked around the edges using 'Black Soot' Distress Ink. I matted the image on to a snippet of purple card (to match the spider's glasses!), then added it to my card on some 3D foam pads. I added a handwritten sentiment in a white gel pen.

PBSC October - Autumn/Fall Colours...More Inspiration!

It's the third Saturday of the month, so that means it's time for some more inspiration for this month's Penny Black Saturday Challenge...where the theme is:

'Autumn/Fall Colours'

As usual, we are sponsored by the awesome 1-2-3 Stitch:

This time, I picked some papers from the Penny Black 'Madison' pad, and paired them with some of the cute little puppy stamps from the 'Man's Best Friend' set. I coloured the images using watercolour pencils, then added a little sentiment from a Wild Rose Studio set. I doodled some simple borders using a black gel pen.

Dreaming of You

This week's 'Dreams' challenge over at Less is More got me rummaging through my stamps for something suitable...what I found was an adorable trio of sleeping dog images called 'Dog-gone Sweet' by Penny Black. I stamped one of the dogs on to white and kraft card blanks, then doodled some bubbles for their dreamy thoughts. I added a sentiment (from the 'Big Messages' set by Paula Pascual) then coloured the images using watercolour pencils.

Here's a better view:

ABC Christmas Challenge - U is for...

We have another fun ABC Christmas Challenge starting today...Sue is the host and the theme is:

'U is for Under the Pile!'
(In other words...use something old or forgotten)

We are sponsored for this challenge by Bugaboo Stamps:
Prize - 7 Digis of the winner's choice!

I dug deep underneath my pile of patterned papers...and found my Penny Black 'Madison' pad...I've had it since the pad first came out in 2012, but hadn't used it in a while. I picked a piece with a snowflake pattern, and paired it with a neglected stamp set ('Christmas with Barkley' by Crafter's Companion). I stamped the image directly on to my card blank, then coloured it using watercolour pencils...you can't tell from the photo, but I added some sparkle to the snowy ground using a Wink of Stella pen. I cut a curve along the bottom of the snippet of patterned paper using a Lawn Fawn 'Stitched Hillside' border die, and added one of the sentiments that accompanied the image in the set.

I have a Halloween treat box to share today...made using my We R Memory Keepers punch board and some Core'dinations 'Black Magic' card. I used a 12x12 piece of card, and made the largest size of box (a 4x4 cube). I sanded the edges of the card to reveal the coloured core (green in this case)...then added some pieces of the same card embossed with a selection of 'spooky' embossing folders...I scuffed up the edges a little and then sanded over the raised surface to reveal the coloured core. I added a little tag made out of more of the same card...decorated with a Penny Black cat image (from the 'Be Very Scared' set) and tied to the box using some multicoloured twine.

Winter Treescape

Another Christmas card from me today...this time using some dies and snippets of Core'dinations card...it's from one of the Tim Holtz packs, and has a 'shattered' effect on the surface. I used one of my circle Nesties to cut the...er...circles (!) then Hero arts dies for the trees, and Lawn Fawn 'Stitched Hillside' border dies for the snow drifts. I embossed the background using my Cuttlebug 'Swiss Dots' folder to look like falling snow. To add a bit of definition, I sanded the edges, and over the raised embossing to reveal the kraft core. The sentiment stamp is from the 'Scribbly Christmas' set by Tim Holtz for Stampers Anonymous.

Snow Family

I had a bit of a festive crafting session yesterday afternoon, and made three more Christmas cards for the pile...the first one features a cute snow family from the Prairie Fairy. I coloured them using watercolour pencils, then added some sparkle to the snow using a Wink of Stella pen. Inspired by the gorgeous colour combination on 'Turquoise & Lilac' for this week's Less is More challenge...I used Distress Inks in those colours (Mermaid Lagoon, Peacock Feathers, Dusty Concord & Wilted Violet) 'smooshed' on to my craft mat to create the 'sky' background. I then heat embossed my Simon Says Stamp 'Falling Snow' stamp using WOW 'Sparkling Snow' powder, and laid it behind the snow family. I matted it all on to some purple card, then added a sentiment from the 'Scribbly Christmas' set by Tim Holtz for Stampers Anonymous.

Pile It On! Challenge - Sparkle

We have another fun Pile It On! Challenge starting today...and the theme is:

'Sparkle'

Our sponsor this month is Doodle Pantry:
Prize - 3 Digital Images of the winner's choice!

I used some sparkly silver embossing powder by WOW to heat emboss a Woodware 'Christmas Trees' stamp on black card. I added some strips of really glittery silver ribbon (from Wilkinsons) on to my card blank, then mounted my tree panel over the top on 3D foam. I also heat embossed the sentiment from the same stamp set in the sparkly silver powder.
